Got this myself on my phone, and it simply rejected to upgrade. Below's what worked for me.

Edit: this appears to be a concern that Facebook are aware of. It's a concern with the Facebook application, as well as not a generalised Play Store issue.

This is what benefited me at least.

  1. Settings > Applications > All > Google Play Shop, Clear data as well as Clear cache

  2. Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Provider > Manage area, Clear all data and Clear cache


It does not hurt if you reboot your phone before you try upgrading facebook once again. And, the set up was SLOW. Simply a minimum of 4-5 minutes. Yet, it did job. Otherwise attempt to uninstall it, or simply wait on a solution.
